The history behind the rescue of the hacked Counterparty assets (Issued April 2014) by Joe Looney: That same year, Looney’s private key was leaked following a security bug in the bitcoinjs-lib, a library used by Counter Wallet. His assets were then held hostage by the hacker who set up a bot which automatically drained any BTC sent to the address turning it into a honeypot. On June 11, 2021, Looney was able to beat the bot and rescued the “THING” asset with a memo titled “freeeeedom Looney decided to leave the rest of the assets for future treasure hunters to unearth. The bot was still active at the time of publishing. On November 17, 2022, we were able to beat the bot sweeping all the remining assets along with the ownership! The rescued assets are: LOON, RAIN, GROW, RHODY, SETH, CLAM, GARDENCOIN, RAFFLE.
